                    Yay~
Been a while since I've actually recorded anything...Kurt got me back in the swing of things by asking me to do an acoustic rendition of his song "Venom for the Masses".
I'll be recording that next ^ ~.
For now, here's a song from one of my favorite underground anti-folk-heroes, Erik Petersen (Mischief Brew). He proved to just about everyone that you don't need a good voice or amazing skills to write something beautiful. Of course, he throws in the occasion anti-government song ^ ~.
Well then...Enjoy (Please?). I know I make a lot of mistakes on the vocals, but it isn't going to keep me up tonight =P. It's just a cover.
This was mostly to get back into the hang of using my editing programs X_x. Apparently Mixcraft loves me...and I love it back <3.
Here's the lyrics, if you're interested
**************
Old Tyme Mem'ry
**************
When Father bought the farm, we sold the farm
Mistook his blood for rustic charm
Sold his ghost as an antique
To the city
Kid's today can't hold a spade
Rest in peace your weary trade
In this world there is no place
Such a pity
The barman shakes his head and fills my glass
Says we're living in the past
Why preserve a dying craft
And it's misery
We sigh and say "Another 'modern' man,
One of Property, not land..."
So I'll hold out this battered hand
Will you listen?
So come sit down, we're lamenting
About yesterday's sad ending
'Bout the water in me whiskey
The brass passed off as gold
Another round; we're descending
Into Old Tyme Mem'ry
Of a day when wood was wooden
Silver-silver, gold was gold
Sweet home was home
So you say you've got a new stove in your second home
Runs on gas, but looks like oak
Hell, it even gives off smoke
And glowing embers
A quilt hung on the wall read "Home, Sweet Home"
Below some wise words from Thoreau
"And they call me a throwback
When I cry 'Remember!'"
(Chorus)
Son, these tools are artifacts
Endangered species left it's tracks
So lock me up behind plastic glass
In the city
There's no going back for me
This antique's rustic eulogy
Will be sold as folk-artistry
What a pity
But I'll never understand
Why they all can use their hands
To build a stead that will 'ever stand
In old-tyme country
But settle for white herms and hollow doors
Paper ceilings, padded floors
Luxury boxes where we're stored
In what was country
(Chorus x2)

*Smiles* Thanks <3! I'm glad you liked it ^^. I should probably do more multi-track recordings like this one...they come out better. The songs I've been posting lately have been 1-shot recordings, so I can't mess with individual bits xD...
But really, thanks for the comment ^^. It's nice to hear when I'm doing something right xD.

The sad part is...I have shit recorded that I just never posted here, and plenty of stuff that I play all the time that I've just never recorded xD. Roll Me Through The Gates of Hell is on the list of things that need to be recorded.
In fact, I'm going to take a minute to upload some stuff that I've just got sitting around. I've uploaded some stuff to Tindeck to show a few friends, but never remembered to post any of it xD.

I started working on a song about Erik the day he passed. Mixlunar and I are both still very much a fan of the music he left behind. You can find more folk-punk in their gallery as well.

Another really big hit was Pat the Bunny (Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains, Wingnut Dishwasher's Union, Ramshackle Glory) announcing that his political beliefs no longer align with the scene.
There's new music coming up in the scene every day, though! I haven't really dabbled much in folk-punk lately, but you can rest assured that I'll be posting more in the future!

Oh yeah, I knew about Pat. He's doing his own thing like all of us should be doing. I still listen to the album Live The Dream quite a bit.
And yah, I'm still into the folk punk scene, listening to bands such as Days N' Daze, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Railyard Ghosts, Defiance Ohio, and of course Mischief Brew. Along with other bands I come across.
I'm learning to play guitar, a little late though since I'm 30 now, but I guess it's never too late to learn. And I'll make sure to give you a watch so I can see the music you post.

There's no bad time to learn an instrument. I'm currently learning violin at 27 ^___^. I watch back on principle if you're a musician or learning. If you post anything I'd love to listen~!
...and I clicked the play button and realized that this cover really IS 9 years old. Dear god. I've gotten a lot better at singing since I did this, I promise XD...
