Howling at the Moon 2009
This is the badge for the local furgroup's foodie camping trip this year, which just happened this weekend! We went up to Wallace Falls near Gold Bar in western Washington state. The art for the badge was done for us by the super fantastic rickgriffin, who really came through awesomely despite the short notice and all the stuff that was going on last week. :)
Depicted on the badge are myself, the "head chef" of the event, and michaelj, the event organizer and assistant cook. We are cooking frenetically, hoping to appease the looming crowd of hungry furs before they turn on us!
Saturday was the main event and saw most of the fooding, with cooking throughout the day broken up occasionally by people hiking off through the camp or playing ball and Kill Doctor Lucky and the like. For snacks, I made and brought maple snickerdoodle cookies, and a peanut butter and raspberry jam linzer torte. We started with my honey mustard curry chicken over rice, followed by Michael putting on some clam chowder we brought for a soup type item.
Me and Michael then had a friendly grilled cheese cookoff with sourdough bread and a variety of deli cheese and meat. Michael favored grilling the cheese and meat together in butter in a pan with some egg, and then scooping into the bread. My method was a little more traditional; I buttered my bread with a homemade garlic butter I prepared at home and brought with me, and then filled with layers of cream cheese, turkey, pepperjack, ham, and italian provolone, grilling as usual. The consensus was that I won handily, but Michael says his first sandwich was better than mine; I wouldn't know since I only got one of his later ones. ;D It was still quite good though! ^.^
After that, things died down a bit; we didn't end up doing quite as much cooking as planned because the meals were a bit filling. We did some toasted marshmallows over the fire, and then I finished off the evening with my pièce de résistance, deep-fried seasoned pesto salmon in pastry. Certainly the best dish of the whole event, and it damn well better have been considering how much time and effort it required on my part. :P Thankfully I had help with some of the accessory activities with getting stuff ready and we had some furs willing to do dishes for us.
In the morning, I made homemade buttermilk waffles in the waffle iron I brought with me, while Michael made eggs to go with, and the smart furs made egg sandwiches with waffles as the bread. There was also real maple syrup available for more traditional waffleage, of course. (I made myself a sandwich with maple inside.) Then we broke camp and head out. A number of us headed back to Michael's place, where I finished with one of the dishes I had intended to make Saturday but didn't get the chance - chicken satay over rice. :D
As far as I can tell, everyone loved pretty much everything I made, which makes me very happy. I would have liked a little more attention and people to talk to while I was cooking, so I wasn't so often by myself, but maybe that can be addressed next year. I still had a lot of fun. :)

Ah, cook I see! Into the culinary art over the drawn type? XP
You have a nice list of dishes you made! I find myself cooking more often and thus far I've made a few things: Maccaroni and Cheese, Chicken Parmigiana with homemade Marinara sause, Chicken Alfredo pasta, buttermilk pancakes, and various breaded meats. Someday I'm gonna make one of my favorite breakfasts; Chicken/Country fried steak and eggs with buttermilk buiscits and sausage gravy. *drool*
Yeah, I guess I like chicken alot :P. Whats your favorite dish?

Yeah, I can't draw, so I write and cook and bake instead. *giggles* I've done all the dishes you describe and much, much more. I'm always trying new stuff, at least one or two new dishes every week as budget allows with standbys or lazyness or eating out with friends filling in otherwise!
It's too hard for me to name a favorite dish as far as cooked stuff, though if I really had to pin it down, I'd say my deep fried seasoned pesto salmon in pastry is freaking fantastic. Drinkwise I make the best eggnog ever, and dessertwise I also make lots of great things but probably my apple pie would be my favorite dish. I don't make it very often though, only a few times a year because it is so labor intensive.

Heh, making me hungry with all those food descriptions. At least you didn't post pictures of all the food to make us salivate even more! XD
Of course, in the case of the latter, I could retaliate by posting a pic of a homemade peanut butter pie I've got sitting online somewhere. *drools just thinking about it*
