You did a great job designing the pattern of the wind-magic effect. It looks a bit like Arabic script in the way that it flows and curves gracefully. I bet you'd be a formidable calligrapher if you gave it a shot. The background is fairly simple, but it gets the point of "deep forest, likely pine" across without distracting from the real focus of the picture: the interesting fellow in the foreground making pretty swirly things happen at the edge of a cliff.

I really like the way this turned out, but I might be a little biased as I'm a sucker for wind-based characters.

Eh, could never really get into calligraphy. I also really like wind based characters. Have you ever heard of Avatar or Kaze No Stigma?

I have definitely heard of Avatar, though I haven't watched any of it yet. I plan on Netflixing it at some point. Kaze No Stigma is new to me, though.

I think you'll definitely like Avatar. I know I enjoyed it. Kaze No Stigma is an anime that may or may not get to US. You should see if you can find a torrent for it.

I've always liked magic that shows up as stretches of symbols or patterns. Somehow it seems more magic-like than just a gust of wind or a fireball.
