A little vent art. I needed my Silver lining today, and thankfully Overcast was there to help...

I try to keep myself strong and happy. Especially around others. Someone who I consider a friend touched a nerve today and even after explaining why they were so ignorantly wrong, they basically told me to "get over it." that what I was feeling, was not "all that important in the long run." You don't just, get over Suicide. Let alone two in your immediate family. I've built up a wall over the last year and a half since the most recent one, my aunt back in April last year, but her ignorant and self righteous words brought that wall tumbling down again. All that pain just rushed to the surface and it was difficult not to break down and cry.

If you think someone who you care for might be depressed, or might try to commit suicide. Don't stay silent. Don't tell yourself " they'll be fine, there's a hotline. They'll call it." They won't. Talk to them. Make sure they understand how much you love them, because they need to hear that. They've some how forgotten that, and they need to know it again. Copying and Pasting a Facebook status with the Suicide hotline doesn't really help... because you think you've done something super helpful, and then you move on. If someone's really suicidal, they won't seek help. Someone else has to actively grab their arm before they step off that bridge. Make sure you show how much you love them. Convince them that your love is worth them staying around. Before you end up regretting it like I do.
