Another sunset shot from the nearby seafront park this evening, shot the whole lot of this evenings photos in JPG rather than RAW, so a bit pissed about that, but the results came out ok-ish anyways it seems.

Ooh, nice :3
The older lenses will fit to it no problem, but with the D3100 (and my D5200 for that matter) can't autofocus with them sadly. You'll need AF-S lenses to work with auto-focusing. Reason being is that there is no focus motor in the body of these camera bodies, and so it needs lenses (AF-S) that have the motor built into the lens.
You can still use the old lenses in a more manual fashion, you'll just be left to deal with the focus on your own!
I bought an old D50 body a while back on the cheap to go with a nice old telephoto lens as the D50 had the motor in it!

Nice. I got this lens for my old 35mm Nikon F. http://www.adorama.com/nk5014u.html.....FYQkgQod2awFzw
I love that lens, as it was my first lens. I also have a Super Albinar lens as well. That one is my second lens, both were given to me by my grandfather before he died. My neighbor gave me her husbands Nikon i think 28mm. I hope these can work, because i'd hate to break my new camera by accident. I'm new to DSLR, but know how to use them, just not very good on what lenses will fit what mount x3
I've got a small collection of Pentax K mount lenses as well as a Pentax film SLR that my father handed down to me as well as a couple of flashes from my Grandfather. I'm unable to use the Pentax stuff sadly without venturing back into film (and to be brutally honest I'm too lazy to deal with it!). It's nice to have handmedown equipment from family members though, holds its own special value :)
I believe the rule is that any lens made for an old film Nikon will fit the Digital Nikon's It's just a matter of how many features you'll have to control via the lens rather than using the advantage of the digital aspect!
The more expensive Nikon bodies (with the motor) can use the old film lenses just as well, but with the addition of the autofocus feature (which is obviously rather handy!!)
