In fact the Metal Men was one of the references I had kicking around while thinking what superhero comic to use! I'm only a casual reader of that one, but a month or two ago I did finally read a DC Comics Showcase of the 60s comics. And I enjoyed, although the flaws in the comics really show up when you read a whole bunch of them one after the other.
