well nevertheless, this was a character idea I had for a long time that i haven't yet did much with, the creature itself is a toy lion, a sentient object made of a mysterious miracle rubber that has a few interesting qualities to it. one being that there's no input valve on miracle rubber objects as you can stick a hose in any part of it's body and it will latch onto the spot, and inflating that area will cause the subject to inflate there. any method of inflation works this way, including just blowing into the area. the material is soft, flexible, and fairly puncture proof. and is also self healing when damaged.

The toy lion is more or less genderless but appears as a male lion, the mane itself is actually a separate object and can be pulled off to make him resemble a female.

Given that he's a 'toy' lion, his primary existence is to serve as a recreational object, you can inflate him like a ball and throw him around, bounce him around, or use him like a big punching balloon by grabbing hold of the ring handle at the end of his tail. you can also just hold and cuddle him like a soft, air filled pillow, you could also just mess with his proportions by blowing him up in various areas, and since he's sapient, you could also even roleplay with him. he's game for anything!

The inspiration behind the idea actually comes from the kirby franchise, in kirby's adventure, some sources refer to the fire lion as the 'toy' lion for reasons i haven't figured out, and his official artwork depicted him with a purplish color scheme. and in the anime. kirby defeats the fire lion by inflating him like a balloon (no kidding!)

so nevertheless, put two and two together and in the end, I conceived this idea.


My main motive for posting this was for  Kikatsu secret santa. I felt like he would be a good choice to submit since he is quite easy to draw and is a toy, so he'd make for an appropriate christmas gift. I thought I submitted this before but couldn't find it in my gallery anywhere.
