In the catacombs of a Welsh cemetery, the Langren Evan Langston and his cousin Lang Shu, whom he had called for help, battled the infamous and immortal feral wolf Xun, to stop his millennium long rampage against humanity, whom the wolf people, or Langren, were sworn to protect. Shu’s friend and the love of his life, Hirozuki, the only fox of his wolf village, was present as well, but was warned to stay out of it. For the Langren’s destiny was to unlock their divine powers of lightning and soul to end Xun, who was cursed with immortality at his frail old age for his crimes against the humans. In a heroic battle Shu and Evan seemed to have fulfilled the 1800 year long prophecy. But Xun’s hatred for man pushed him to rise as they turned their backs. He dealt a deep wound to Evan, and had Shu pinned and at his mercy. Zuki bravely stepped in and unleashed the dark power of her grandmother, the dreaded Kyubi Kitsune, and used its wicked nature to drag Xun to the fiery depths with her.
Zuki herself was not dead, but bound in hell by her unholy power, the origin of which immediately found her. Kyubi, the first ever kitsune to reach a total of nine-tails, and the first to be corrupted by her immense power. Greedy for even more, she convinced Zuki into giving her the large amount of the power she carried, large enough to trap her in eternal damnation. But it was truly the power that deserved to burn eternally, not Zuki. Raised as one of the Langren, she learned to fight for those who were preyed on by others. If she were to surrender the dark power, she would be banished from the flaming depths. Although Zuki was well aware that surrendering it would make her grandmother an even bigger danger to the world, since she was not deceased either, she agreed, and was sent back to the surface. Although, in surrendering all of her dark kitsune power, her body had little time to adjust to the change, creating a very shocking problem as she revived on Earth
Hirozuki had found herself lying in the moonlight, more bizarrely, in the middle of a maple tree grove, inhabited by a small army of feral foxes. She had been revived in a sanctuary for her wild brethren, Kitsune Mura, the Zao Fox Village in Miyagi, Japan. Jumping at what she saw in pond water, she took a second look, slowly feeling her face had changed. To her fortune, on one aside from the foxes was around as she let out a piercing scream of terror. Her eyesight was improved slightly, but her sense of smell had dramatically declined. Her beautiful and bushy tail was completely gone, and her claws were replaced by comparably frail fingernails. Her ears were shrunk and shifted to the sides of her head rather than atop the cranium, and their sensitivity was dulled down as well. Worst of all, still in her light and breathable scouting attire, she felt the full force and bitter bite of the night wind. Her skin was bare, without a thread of fur to protect it, save for the darkened mane she had thankfully retained.
After a week to break in this new form, Zuki grinned and bore through its disadvantages. As one of the Langren’s tribe, she has nothing against humans. But even in gaining less than perfect vision, heightened smell and hearing, a tail and claws, and greatly increased body temperature due to fur would cause any former human to react the same way. The humanized Zuki then began her own Warrior’s Pilgrimage, like her father Jubei before her, over three hundred years ago, and stowed away out of Japan by plane which landed in England. Swimming to Wales, she retraced her path back to the catacombs where she fought Xun, and found a portal to another dimension. As she found traces of Shu leading to the portal, she followed him through it, leading her to the anthro world, where she no longer had to hide her existence from humans, but where humans were rare. She regained her true vixen form and began her search for Lang Shu, with the new Anthro World immediately growing on her.
