Type O cuddlecoll are from an original molluscoid species I have. They "scan" a color with the two sensitive eyes covered by an overhanging flap on their heads, and then voila, they are able to secrete the color they want from the ink sacs on their sides. Blind Cuddlecoll type O tend to produce randomized colors or black/greyscale ink if they have no way to see light and color. Cuddlecoll sell their ink to other species and the higher grades are quite prized for its water resistance, archival qualities, and other intriguing properties.

Type O are one of several types of cuddlecoll, ranging from Type N, O, S, M, etc. Not all of them can produce ink like the Type O's can.
