Tawna Bandicoot first debuted in Crash Bandicoot as the main character's girlfriend. For all intensive purposes she was the damsel in distress, a means to an end for our hero. She didn't have a huge role in the game other than being your means of saving the game and of coarse your reason for beating the game. Tawna was dropped after the first game due to troubles at Universal interactive, feeling they shouldn't have a sexy character in a "family" game (even though the game deals with animal experimentation but its the titties they worry about and Who Framed Roger Rabbit came out way before Crash 1 and that's a Disney movie) and Naughty Dog wanted to get on Sony of Japan's good side at the time, which they felt the same as Universal on Tawna as a whole (THE IRONY), so the bitch got the axe, sadly.

Now i find Tawna's whole background incredibly interesting due to the fact that multiple characters would follow in her footsteps so to speak, Rouge the Bat is clearly a sexual character in a "family" game, same with Carmelita in the Sly Cooper games, i get that it was the 90's but again, Roger Rabbit came out years prior and Jessica Rabbit is arguably more sexually gratuitous than Tawna ever was, its even said that Crash and Tawna have that same Roger Jessica dynamic, goofy dude paired with the hottest chick in town. Its a real shame that Tawna was dropped but her "legacy" didn't go unnoticed over at Naughty Dog.

During the development of Crash 1 it was said that Tawna was the perfect blend of brains and beauty, being the only Cortex experiment that was a complete success, so even before the game came out Tawna was slated to have a larger role in future games but alas it never was, she was dropped and replaced with Coco, which isn't bad but i feel there was more potential with Tawna.

Now Tawna's importance on future Naughty Dog projects is largely unappreciated, with the exception of "The Last of Us" there is always a "sexy" or "attractive" female character in Naughty Dog games that have a role on par with the main protagonists, Kira in Jak and Daxter doesn't get nearly as much credit as she should because without her, Jak and Daxter couldn't progress on their journey, now i'm not sure which Uncharted game has the said important sexy character but i'm aware of her presence, sadly i just don't care about Uncharted.

If i could have Tawna back in a new game i would re-brand her as a female jock, its shown in Crash 1 that she's strong enough to pick up Crash up to eye level, granted their proportions are drastically different but how progressive would that be? A "sexy" female who is into competitive sports and still flaunts her good looks as a trademark, all i know is that Tawna holds a soft spot in very few Crash fans, some feeling her removal was unjust, unnecessary and almost hypocritical seeing how Tomb Raider came out the next year and went on to sell millions.

Some may of forgot about Tawna, but others wish she got the proper treatment she deserves.
