WHEW. Now, this was quite an experiment.
I've long admired the "sock paw" style of paw slippers that some costumers and fursuiters make. It's a sleek, comfy style. I've been wanting some resembling coyote paws for a while.
I finally got around to trying it out myself! So this was pretty experimental. A project like this can be pretty challenging when you're lacking a lot of stuff that would make it easier.
So, these feature:
* Foam toes carved by hand
* Hand-sculpted Sculpey claws
* Lightly stuffed vinyl pawpads for a squishy, 3D feel that is still comfortable to walk on
* Half-inch foam soles. A little extra padding for a smooth shape and comfort of walking, but without adding bulk.
* All hand-sewn except for where they were glued instead. That included hand-appliqued pawpads.
* White DF fur shaved with terrible, tiny, underpowered clippers. Also scissor-trimmed.
* White DF fur colored tan with acrylic! Another challenging part. The grey fur I actually got at a Walmart probably close to ten years ago.
A lot of time and effort went into these. For a first try, I think they came out okay. They're comfortable, warm, and very mobile. I put a short video on Youtube to demonstrate their flexibility: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlMj7Hcdohg
But I won't be attempting a project this major again for a while, haha.
