Slowly, but surely, the lion avatars make progress. I decided to give them fully modeled expressions: neutral, snarling (as can be seen here) and smiling. Together with an open or closed muzzle and eyelids that can be anywhere between open or closed, a decent range of emotions can be shown.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you take a look at some of the SL screen shots in my gallery (this is a Maya/Turtle rendering) you can see that my textures appear in SL exactly as in the previews (if you make sure to have "Anisotropic Filtering" switched on in the SL options).

very interesting. The emotions sound like it'll be quite the challenge. But you look off to a great start. And something is telling me you like these challenges anyway XD
