Now that's downright tragic. You've really captured the awe of transformation in this painting; I get a choking feeling of apprehension just from looking at it. The dragon's expression truly commands attention as he sees his own claw turning to leaf. Such a powerful creature being reduced to a plant implies dreadful magic, but the wisps and sparkles look so innocent they're practically mocking him.
This TF is expertly conveyed through its unique phase. Nothing is wasted. Renlu is preoccupied with the morphing of his right claw, while the left shows us what is to become of it. The left wing is untouched to make the changes on the right wing look ever more devastating. The dragon's pose alone suggests that he is helplessly seized by this transformation, else we'd expect him to be struggling. Though, with his tail rooted in place, perhaps his fate is already determined. It all begets pity.
The choice of perspective enhances the feeling of the magic overtaking the dragon, and the familiar surroundings only further the effect, letting us know how the dragon has shrunk for this event. You did an especially good job on the human hands, here. The palette is masterful, as the deep saturation draws attention back to the dragon no matter where you look in this picture; yet all of it feels natural. It's a single picture, yet it shows a lot of change. It's the early stage of the metamorphosis, yet you can feel the overwhelming finality of what is to come.
It's a perfectly executed TF. It's touching. That poor dragon...
Is there a story behind this? The keyword "Friends" suggests something different. What kind of person would leave their friend in such a vegetative state? What's going on here? Is this really a willing TF?

Renlu and I really enjoy plant TF.
Plants are capable of communication and perception. That is to say, the can react to stimuli in their own unique way, even so far as to interact with other plants and sometimes even animals directly (like the vines that curl around fingers).
Now imagine what perception must feel like without animal sensations. While it might seem scary from an outside perspective, it may actually prove relaxing, with fewer things to act upon and such. We don't delve into permanence, so there's that. Think of this like a break from the day to day life, and in someone's loving care for the meantime. Plants are wonderful forms of life that really need more love and understanding in this regard.
As for direct context, when you consider the keyword "friend" and the fact that he's being made into a potted plant, it really emphasizes that this is a more intimate scene. He's not being left in the wild or alone in a forest, he's in a place that's safe and secure, with no sign of fear in his expression. The hands clearly belong to someone who has a clear grasp on the situation, and isn't about to let any harm befall the soon to be addition to their botanical care.
Otherwise, yes. This piece is gorgeous, GardeaAlgedo did an amazing job, and I know Ren loves it so much, too.

Now that's downright adorable. Now that I know that, I get a warm and fuzzy feeling just from looking at it. Such a powerful creature being transformed into a plant implies a great deal of trust and friendship, and the wisps and sparkles make it all the more magical.
Though transformation is a capability possessed by many dragons, the expression in Renlu's eyes show that even a dragon can be awed by the change. His unflinching pose suggests that he's a veteran of TF, but can appreciate the unique experience that only transformation can bring. With a friend willing to care for him while morphed into an inanimate life form, it begets envy.
What a sweet display of friendship, captured in the unique magic of TF. It must be nice for Renlu to have such a friend. Lucky dragon...
Best wishes to you and your future TF adventures with Renlu. May the care you have for each other never change~
