Not incredibly long before I drew this, I ate some ham which upon reflection I think may have been a tad past its expiration date, and following that I can tell you that such an unusual wardrobe would have been rather convenient.
It was for the person who once was azuredragon. I do not know where he is now, would not know how to find out and am probably better off not knowing. In fact he was the one who first clued me into the whiskey lemur's supposed deeds. I honestly wish I had never heard. I didn't even know this guy! Why did I draw this? I went way out of my way, too, to find out obscure character details to incorporate in here, and I remember that the bricks were ridiculous. Gosh if I had that kind of time now maybe I would make myself a sandwich. I would ensure the ham was still in season, however.

PSP was my go-to tool for desktop skinning for the longest time. Nowadays, I'm more likely to be using the GIMP or possibly Paint.NET.
I still use a mouse, though. I have a few tablets but they're not that useful for what I do. At least it now has the power of a class 2 laser.

I started drawing with a mouse in KID PIX in 1993 or so, on school Macintosh computers, and then used pbrush.exe, (before it was mspaint.exe) when I had my own computer, both of which generally relied on zooming in to the pixel level to make anything coherent. I have not yet found a better program to suit my ancient technique than PSP. Although lately I have used the famous Pain Tool Sai for adding fur details on pertinent pixel perfect pictures. When I draw with a tablet or need blendy colours, it will be in Sai or Photoshop, and possibly other things if I remember to use them.
Do you remember CHESS.BMP? That was true artistry.
I remember doing a lot of pixels for Digital Age. It was very tedious making the animation, top.bmp especially. I did have the satisfaction of breaking WindowBlinds with too many frames, though. All my skins broke something. :-D

I was unfamiliar with anything called chess.bmp but i looked it up and found what looks approximately like I would expect. The only specific pre-loaded image name I remember from my first version of windows is "egypt.bmp" which is a 16x16 tiling background showing a squared-off S pattern, which surely summed up the egyptian experience. Although there were a few "huge" 500x300 or thereabouts images that were provided to use in the jigsaw puzzle game-oid.
I have never made what could be called a skin for anything, but I spent too many years trying to make doom stuff and no matter how advanced the source port I managed to put in something that broke the game or became broken when a new version came out.

I am still here, though I mostly just use FA as a way to keep up on a handful of friends and artists.
Drawing this for me at all, and incorporation of little character details always seemed like a gracious touch, and it was done for me while I was also going through a dark and rough time, personally and mentally. This and about a year later you off-handedly surpising me with a little postcard doodle when I'd mentioned wishing to be able to meet the Dinotopia author at a convention you'd be at were two happy little lights that shone bright during a dark time. I have (well, hadm until data recovery services can fix stuff) a "cheer up" folder that was basically like a digital scrapbook filled with photos and oictures and notes and art for me to page through when I was feeling down, and this piece by you was in there.
I am sorry that the main thing you have me associated with is telling you bad news about someone you looked up to :(
I appreciate you reuploading it as well because I lost my copy of this in a hard drive crash recently, and had been thinking about this, and wondering about you.
I also like to think the hidden pinecone was helping cover the getaway exit.

I believe that period in 2016 was somewhat "dark" for me since I uploaded a bunch of old pictures for the purpose of griping all at once, though I don't recall what specifically set it off that time. And then I continued drawing things that I griped about for six more years. That is my fate, it certainly is not your fault! I found lemur guy's next internet position and he still wouldn't talk to me even this year, yet you still would even after you found this here, so that is also in your favor, I think. I have had a lot of admiration go to pointless places.
the full size image is at http://bimshwel.com/awnaw/ham7-22-2009.png if you have any need of that. I do miss my old technique's trait of keeping the file sizes so low like that. I have mercifully been spared any lingering hard drive catastrophes since 1998 but I also obsess about preparing for them more than a rational person would since most of my life's value is in silly imaginary nonsense that I made.

I can relate to that, too, sadly.
At any rate, no hard feelings.
Thank you so much for this hi-res version. I have a copy saved now and when I get my replacement backup drive it'll go there too (since all I had was the smaller version).
Amusingly, there's some sort of FA glitch going on right now where the preview box of my reply to you also lists me as "potato".
