"In this town we make our own happy endings." (WIP 7)
Getting pretty close to finishing this, yay.
Aludran soldiers and militia during the Battle of Halleck. The one second from the right was Socialising.
Incidentally, the Aludran Future Soldier gear conceals all of the soldier's rank insignia because the previous generation of Chiran sniper rifle scopes featured image recognition that tagged targets with their rank. Their visors appear opaque because they're designed to prevent light reflecting out of the wearer's eyes: the "cat's eyes" on roads, in this world, are so named because they were originally developed in Aludra as sniper decoys.

I think what I like best about this is how the two groups are armed. The military has the far more advanced firearms, while the two militia fighters have more simple weapons. Far too often I see an artist or writer giving everyone the most fancy and modern weapons available. This is a far more realistic depiction of professional soldiers operating along side civilians.
Yeah, that reminds me of that stupid game Homefront where the resistance are shown to have few resources, such as a virtually indestructible UGV with some kind of on-board missile factory.
Aludra actually has a lot of experience of having its military operate alongside civilians, on the Eastern border they've frequently had tanks supporting rebel technicals.
