The textures are the result of a multiple step process and are rendered in a very high resolution in the end. From there, I shrink them down to a size that can easily be handled by a realtime environment like SL, but they keep a lot of their high res details that way.
As for the release: No fixed date yet, but it'll be at least one or two more months I guess.
