D would've taken back what he said, but by then the cannons at already shot a round off. The ball of fire flew straight them, and Artison shoved D down and covered him the best he could with himself. The ball of flame hit, and engulfed them quickly, but just as D was feeling the stink of the heat it faded.
"Are you safe?" Artison asked
"Yeah," D nodded "Looks like you can be a living shield for this."
The two got up and ran again. The cannons fired over and over, but Artison would just brace for the explosion, and D would take shelter behind him. By the time the cannons were all ready to shoot the ground they stood on, Artison and D were gone. The two had made it to the stronghold and ducked under the windows.
"Well," Artison whispered with a grin. "That was exciting. Now to sabotage these cannons."
"Right, How do I help?" D said, and pulled out Alexa's device and his blade "Need Alexa to hack their systems?"
"Aye, that would be better than I thought." Artison smiled "if alexa can hack in and lock the doors, They can't stop us from doing this." and he snapped his goggles over this eyes "Just cover me."
D turned on his device on again, "Alexa, You need to hack the base."
Alexa formed from the device again "What do you need from it?"
"Lock the place down," D said "We need them kept away from us."
"On it." Alexa said and locked away.
But then a loud explosion was heard from behind them.
D looked and smoke was coming out of the window, and Artison was on the ground. "Artison!"
"Did it work?" he coughed, half focused on D "Did I destroy the cannon?"
D peered back at the window where all the smoke was still escaping "I think so, are you okay?"
"I think there's some soot in my goggles." He coughed, and started to get up. "Call Deimos over, I'll get the next cannons." he walked to another window and reached in. He grabbed the barrel tight and focused hard; then the end of the barrel started to burn and mold to how he wanted. It was sealed shut, and when it went off, the explosion went everywhere, including at at Artison. he was knocked to the ground again and layed there for a while again.
"I dont think you should do that for all the cannons..." D told him, then waved to Deimos.
