Yeah, I always did feel a little guilty killing random wolves in Oblivion (or any RPG involving them, that is).

As do I, even though they always start it.

It gets particularly sad because my Oblivion characters are often walking around decked out in 105% damage reflection. Which means that a wolf can run up, nip me on the ankle, and then fall over dead of self-inflicted wounds.

I've always justified it by thinking that the wolves are going mad because of the energies leaking out from Oblivion. Wolves don't normally attack human(oids) on sight nor go solo (if their wolves are anything similar to our own) in such numbers.
