Um...Anyway, this is based on Warframe, which I had been playing at the time. It features their main character (the wolfess in a Rhino), my own character (Lenna, in the back, as the rescued) and
delynnia in a Banshee. I actually kinda changed their positions a bit from the original afterwards, and the rest went on ahead. Basically some kind of firefight in a sci-fi place. The HUD effect was actually a happy accident in the last few minutes, but it seems cool enough. :3
[MAKING]
This didn't take so absurdly long because of the image itself. It was mainly my struggle with severe procrastination that delayed this so hard, not to mention I had several others ahead of the line at the time. Up until the linearting, it kinda moved on...but then it started to take longer and longer as I kept procrastinating and guilt went on consuming my soul. x_x
But regardless, there was some fun stuff here, mainly the background:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ctsdfbkql.....ing_1.jpg?dl=0
Surprisingly, that background is something I saw in a video at the time about Matte Painting (which the author called "Photobashing"). I went on to tried my own, by merging and playing around with three references rendered on Daz:
I: https://www.dropbox.com/s/303l3h5m9.....ifi_1.jpg?dl=0
II: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqxtf9x4f.....ifi_2.jpg?dl=0
III: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vplb22u87.....ifi_3.jpg?dl=0
After that, it was all handpainting at 300% and such. Took a while. Roughly 70% of that background is handpainted. The part that got me giddy was when I started making the messy pieces of everything strewn around the background to become stuff. Like, the sort of walkways and vehicle on the left. All that emerged as I went on painting. @.@
The other fun part was using 3D to adjust the character pose itself. The following images explain it all.
1- The original sketch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cqj85ls0c.....83%29.png?dl=0
2- Choosing a pose from Daz: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7c66bm2si.....82%29.png?dl=0
3- Remaking the pose with the chosen reference: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ucw7ibpf.....81%29.png?dl=0
4- The sketch, with the new pose: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ef0ne5x9g.....ketch.jpg?dl=0
Bonus-The Last Sketch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h7spxj2ar.....ketch.jpg?dl=0
Strangely, what gave me the most trouble here (aside from the aforementioned procrastination issues) was the coloring. Apparently, B&W-to-color is still a challenge for me in places. ~_~
[CONCLUSION]
SO yeah. Finally done. Many thanks once again to
sandyn for enduring my long as hell delay. n_n
This might be 2016's last piece...maybe. Might get a sudden urge to randomly art before the year ends. O:
And by the way...I might be still officially "closed" for commissions, but I'm open for negotiation. If you don't mind waiting half a billion days. I'll also probably prioritize simpler images since they're....well, simpler. And research some other way of being paid/selling artwork, since PayPal now hates my country. :c
All in all...Cheers! ^_^
