The grey multi-stage rocket is a Willy Ley creation that I've modified. The original delta wing of the orbiter looked ungraceful in the extreme, so I whittled them down to this compound swept wing. Not feeling like painting it right away (it's only been six or seven years), I used the grey plastic colour for inspiration. Using a marker I drew on the German crosses. You might like at this as the Third Reich's 1950's moon rockect, from some other time-line.
The white rocket is made from sheet plastic, the front end of Boeing's SST concept, and a spare engine from a Saturn V. It was meant to capture the look of the spaceship from Space Angel (a really badly animated early TV cartoon). The two globes are part of another Willey Ley concpet -- a moon lander. It actually wasn't all that far off from the real LM. You just have to imagine it being squashed down so it's wider than tall (and more stable in a landing).

Indeed. But odd as it seemed, with Space Angel they actually tried to write half decent stories. They were still crap, but heads and shoulders above the sub-crap stuff they did for Clutch Cargo or Captain Fathom. I have a little of this stuff on public domain releases on CD.
The two-globe lunar lander actually *is* named the Robert A. Heinlein. I lettered the name on a strip of tape and then applied it to part of the spaceship. While I don't like Heinlein as a person, and so-so on his books, there didn't seen to be anything more appropriate.
