I run my own company from home, hence the server "farm"

There's the house Win2000 server/AD controller, mailserver, accounts/antivirus update servers there.

Then there's the external router (routed /28 over dsl), then the internal router (small compaq running IPCop), then the "untrusted" network router, the switch (internal) and the WAN switch, NAS for storage, and my personal *nix server for DNS/Web/IRC/FTP.

The fast host server is over in germany for a faster line..

After seeing the other photos, I must say that that is one hell of a home setup you have.

Well, if you're going to do it, do it right, no?

I mean, how can you run a home network with out a gigabit backplane in the switch and 2 1Gb fibre ports on the back of it... ;)

I wish I'd used a smaller one though, 2x iU 24's would have been nicer than that RM one.

Might have to rewire so I can add in the newer cables.

..and don;t forget to colour-code them, too!

I do, often with the ends though.

ATM: Blue ends are computer room patches, Yellow rest of house, black ends are "untrusted", green are interlinks, red is either wan or Gigabit...

The rest are telcoms cables.

Need to redo this when I'm not feeling colour blind!

Almost makes me want to learn* how to strip-and-end cable myself so can buy whatever colour jackets and just be done with them.

(* - ...and by 'Learn' I mean actually sit down with the tool and practice for.. Idunno... three months solid.)

I would say I could do it in my sleep..

...But those are the cables that don't work *snore*
