When Cerise is conscious, she can actually control her pheromones fairly well. She’s always producing them, but while they’re powerful, they’re also short range. She really just needs a slightly larger personal bubble than most people, and if someone accidentally gets a whiff, she can just shut her mouth(s) for a minute and back away and it’ll work through their system pretty quick.
However, when Cerise is asleep, she can’t physically hold herself back anymore and the pheromones start leaking everywhere. While a quick whiff of the pheromones isn’t bad, in cases of repeated or concentrated exposure (like if someone who is affected once keeps getting close to her and breathing in more) the effect is more pronounced and lasts longer. For this reason, it is very dangerous to be around Cerise when she is asleep, and if people are careless, it’s entirely possible for Cerise to wake up to find that someone has climbed down her throat in the middle of the night. Fortunately, it’s easy enough for her to cough them up in the morning, and her digestion process starts up slowly enough that they’ll probably be fine (though the amount of pheromones they’ll have inhaled after spending a night in her gut might leave them dazed for days.)
And of course, one always runs the risk that when Cerise wakes up, she might decide she doesn’t want to let her prey out. After all, a free breakfast is a free breakfast, right?
