“Control this is Jared, scan of Sector Twenty-Two Bravo complete, area secure with no threats detected. Patrol detail complete in the capital, how copy?”

The dragon, known as Jared, rested his arm on the building to his side as he waited for a response from his contact at the defence Bureau, his tail flicking idly in the street below as suddenly his radio crackled to life in response

“Solid copy Guardian, that’s all we have for you – you are free to continue on with your day…” the warm tones of the female operator paused for a moment before continuing “..and thank you as always, take care” she finished before the comms line clicked off.

Chuckling to himself he idly looked over some information from his scans as below him traffic continued below as if nothing was a miss, enjoying another sunny day in the capital. Jared on the otherhand was considering if he would have time to go meet up with a friend before having to leave for other business in a neighbouring dimension…either way at least this place would be safe until next time he swung by.

Now Jared might be known for his rampages and destructive tendencies in my stories but he is not always like that – in fact in some dimensions he is known by quite different monikers. Instead of “Demon” and “Conqueror” he is known as “Guardian” or “Protector”. These are worlds where he has taken a personal interest in the safety of the planet and its denizens, these can be for myriad reasons – the technological development level is often one, or perhaps a group of people or an individual who he is fond of lives on that world so he seeks to safeguard their existence by looking over their planet.
For some worlds it takes some getting used to have a large dragon walking around like he does, particularly giving his appearance and heavily armoured form at whatever size – and the occasional ‘accidental’ property damage which is inevitable when he takes larger sizes does tend to make people a little nervous, but he tries to go out of his way on worlds where he holds a positive reputation to prove he is there for the good of the people and its world.
In this instance we see Jared supporting local law enforcement and using his advanced internal sensor technology to scan for anything of note which might need to be dealt with. Worlds he tends to patron usually have a much lower crime rate than average (Usually partly attributed to the fact that no one wants to cross him!) but still likes to make patrols to ensure this remains the case from time to time. It also helps to support his image of a benevolent presence to the populace.
