as the days grow shorter
in winter's yearly hold
an equinox of darkness
brings its icy cold
fires blaze in hearths
animals have gone to sleep
beneath a sheet of snow
the world is buried deep
but there is always hope
keep joy in your heart
turn to your friends and say
we're halfway out of the dark

for those who don't know, the winter equinox in the northern hemisphere is December 21, it's the shortest and coldest day of the year. also the final line of the poem is from my favorite TV show Doctor Who from the episode A Christmas Carol which I really enjoyed
Feedback and suggestions are always appreciated.
