nor can I draw fire. Or wings. Or realistic proportions. Or backgrounds. Or ice. Or even Xmas trees.
Sheesh. You people make it look all so easy.
2hr gift comic for
fenrierreddragon, because he could always use some more art- shoddy and unimpressive as it is!
First time drawing any feral characters, especially dragons....no, not recently. Ever. Only ever drawn people or scenes. After checking refs, drawing/erasing and pulling my freakishly long hair out, somewhere around panel 3 I gave up entirely... Fen apparently has a broken leg or a dragon shoe stuck on his thigh, can't tell.
Lessons learned- don't try to work all at once, get a scanner, and PRACTICE DRAWING SCALIES.
Because damn, I'd love to be able to draw them more :) All in all, was fun.
Any tips/input on how to improve dragons, including wing and anatomy, would be greatly appreciated.
Will put in scraps later.

Don't feel bad. I know how to draw dragons, but I am completely terrible at drawing anything that stands on two legs.
Cool thing about dragon anatomy is that you can base your 'skeleton' on any feral quadruped that you feel comfortable to draw. A common one is to base your dragon design on dog or tiger anatomy. Or even something like a bull if you want a stockier dragon, or antelope if you want a leaner-looking dragon. Just have to swap those hooves and paws for claws, add a meaty snake's neck and tail and bat's wings.
Heads are a little tougher to draw though. I practiced with wolf heads for abit as they have a similar snout shape to what I wanted for my version of dragons. There's quite abit of experimentation involved before you'd find a way to draw a dragon best suited to your style.
Hope that helps gives you some sort of direction on how to make better dragons.

Ah yes- that's very helpful! Thank you! Was making the mistake of trying to copy the design from other dragon art but didn't think to build from a skeleton up. And practicing with smaller parts of the anatomy will be a lot less time consuming. Either way, really hoping to improve and draw more feral dragons, and your tips should come in handy :)
