This looks excellent! I have a few questions though, 1) What is the snout made from? 2) Do you plan the panels before you start? I made a leather mask for a sculpture of mine but made it up as I went along. 3) How will it be attached to a head (or is it just used as a sculptural piece)?

1) the snout is a resin casting made for the purposes of taxidermy.
2) I do plan but I used to just wing it. Planning allows optimization and a faster repeat build.
3) Its a mask in that my head will be inside, gazing out.

The ears are going to be very tricky.

Teeth might need a little artificial staining, but snout looks pretty damn realistic. Ears are going to be interesting to see. Looks great.

I still have those cuffs you made for me so long ago, though I've not seen the horse mask since ohio, sadly.

Oh I expect a few months I'll be doing a limited run of a few different leather masks. Each design I create yields a template which makes re-creating it a lot faster.

Thanks. The end effect I'm basically going for is that of a boar wearing a leather mask rather than just a boar-mask in and off it self.

So you're almost there.
(And I want one too).

When this mask is finished, I'll have a working template. At that point, I'll have one more mask design to do...a variation on the canine one. That shouldn't take too long. I hope in a month or two to be able to set up a site geared towards a limited set of mask commissions. Perhaps a run of 13 for each main design. I also hope to later add lion/big cat design and a pony/equine/donkey design.

Though each main design will be constructed for a template, each one will allow a degree of customization to make each and every mask its own unique creature. That's important to me.

What are the tusks fashioned from? They look perfect.

The tusks still need painted and I did not make them. They are replicas from a taxidermy site. So I can't take credit for their creation. I'm glad you like the mask though.

Well, I do have an equine design in the works too. And I'm glad you like the boar mask. Its been fun to create. I just need to finish it.

I love masks, I am just not very talented when it comes to real... crafting. Drawing is okay, but crafting things 3-dimensional and all... I am not too good at it and I have no experience with creating masks. I would love to have one.
