Name: Ivysaur
Classification: Seed
Type: Grass/poison
Number: 002
Evolution: Bulbasaur – Ivysaur (level 16) – Venusaur (level 32)
Length: 1 meter
Weight: 13,5 kilograms
Habitat: Deciduous forest, open field
Description: In most cases, the Bulba-plant decides when Bulbasaur evolve into Ivysaur. When the plant has grown enough to begin producing a flower, its Bulbasaur-host evolves. How long it takes to reach this moment, depends on the region where the Bulbasaur lives. In cold regions, it can take twice as long for a Bulbasaur to evolve as in a warm or tropical climate. Ivysaur is not a lot bigger, but almost twice as heavy as its previous form. Because of this sudden increase in weight, Ivysaur loses a great part of its mobility. Ivysaurs movements are even more slow and awkward than Bulbasaurs. An advantage of it's weight, is that it is too heavy to be picked up by flying predators. Ground-dwelling predators, such as Mightyena, Houndoom and packs of Growlithe, are still a problem. Ivysaurs only good defense is the posion the Bulba-plant provides it with. Its claws and teeth, mostly used for digging up Nincada, can seriously harm an attacker, but Ivysaur is neither agile nor swift enough to use these weapons to their full potential. Though Ivysaur are hardly a prey of choice - presumably because they taste rotten - they are frequently attacked in winter and during other periods when food is scarce. The Ivysaur themselves seem strangely unconcerned about this: they live solitary during the entire year, as opposed to Bulbasaur, who, at least in winter, form small groups. They also spend a lot of time sunbathing in forest clearings. Only once in their time as Ivysaur do these pokémon collect themselves in groups: when the Bulba-plants flower begins to unfold and they are ready to evolve into Venusaur, they travel in groups of up to thirty Ivysaur to a few select places on the large, open plains of Kanto. It is unknown why the Ivysaur make this journey rather than evolving where they are, or how they know where they are supposed to go. There is no one to guide them and sometimes they travel more than a hundred kilometers to a specific place. It is possible that Ivysaur instinctively seek out the place where their parents evolved, to evolve there themselves. During this journey, they are extra vulnerable to predators, since they are extremely visible, audible and only move at a very slow pace. The relative weakness of the Ivysaur might prevent a surplus of Venusaur. Some Ivysaur move to the open plains long before their evolution, but because they are nearly as high as they are long, they are easily spotted there. Normally, Ivysaur live in deciduous forests. They usually hide in bushes near forest clearings, where they sunbathe during most of the day. The symbioses between plant and pokémon seems stronger with Ivysaur than with Bulbasaur. The plant seems to regulate a large part of Ivysaurs energy supply: at night and in dark places, Ivysaur hardly moves at all. This hypothesis is supported by informaton gathered from the dissection of dead Ivysaur. These showed that its digestive system can't cope with the amounts of food that would be needed to supply this pokémon with enough energy. Ivysaurs diet, like Bulbasaurs, consists of insects, mostly Caterpie and Nincada. It is often observed that Ivysaur eat dirt, though it is unknown for what purpose. Perhaps Ivysaur can detect certain nutrients in the ground that are important for the Bulba-plant.
Another oldie. Not all the ones that were (well, are, I don't think I've ever removed them) on my DA-account are worth reposting, but I thought this one was okay.
