This is a statue that is built outside of Shibuya station to honor Hachiko. Hachiko was a dog who belonged to a doctor. Each day the doctor would commute to work via the train lines, and each evening Hachiko would be waiting for him when he got off the train. One day, however, the doctor had a heart attack and died. Hachiko waited for him in vain at the train station. Eventually he was given to another family who lived in Shibuya, but he would always escape, each day, to wait at the train station at the time his previous master would get off from work. And now, with the statue, he waits eternally. Sad story.
