This is a rare occurrence you are seeing here, Phantom Frog and Phantom Ferret together arguing. Those of you in the Colmaton Universe understand this statement. For those of you who, don't allow me to explain.
The ferret lady on the right is Thelma Rogers, better known as the superheroine Phantom Ferret. On the right is Reginald Piper, today known by the Bureau of Superheroes codename Phantom Frog. Thelma passed away in 1989 and her spirit has lived within Reginald's body ever since. How her spirit now lives within Phantom Frog's amphibian body is a long story.
Long ago, in the mid 1920's, a bright, energetic Thelma Rogers became the first female to graduate from Yale University. Later, she moved to Atlantic City and was hired by the local newspaper. Young Thelma’s life changed forever one day went she was assigned to interview one of the last living Civil War veterans in a retirement home in Atlantic City in 1927. His name was Winston Clark, a Golden Retriever who happened to have served as a Union soldier for all four years of the conflict. During the interview, he told a peculiar story of finding what he called a ‘falling star’ after the war that when he touched it, gave him strange abilities. Winston described how he used the superpowers he acquired to become a masked Western hero known as the Night Ranger. Thinking that the elderly canine was out of his mind, she started to leave when Winston grabbed her paw. He then said he was dying and that his kinfolk was too far away to accept his final gift. As he spoke, Thelma felt a strange surge of energy throughout her body. Winston’s dying words were, ‘use what I’ve given you for the good of all furkind.” That’s exactly what she did for over 50 years as the mysterious masked heroine Phantom Ferret. In her declining years, having never married and now living in a Nursing Home herself, Thelma wanted to pass on the Phantom powers to someone else. It happened to be a young frog volunteer named Reginald Piper. But when Thelma did grab his hand to pass her powers to him, she messed up the transfer and sent her living spirit into the frog’s body as well. So now, Thelma Rogers lives on, inside of Reginald. They share a common body, mind and powers, but Thelma can still think and act for herself too. Since 1989, Phantom Frog has carried on the tradition of the original Phantom heroine, as well as her living essence.
In this picture, Phantom Frog has used his powers to astro-project Thelma outside his body, a skill he is now beginning to master but one that can only last for a few minutes. Apparently, Thelma is taking this rare opportunity to argue with Reginald, or 'Reggie' as she calls him.
Not only did
lordjaguar buy this pic for me as a wonderful gift, he also gave me a story plot idea to go with it. Hopefully, in the near future, he and I can work together to make that story a reality!
