This rifle has been a long time coming. Not that it took a long time to do (which will explain its quality), but that it is about damn time I did it! lol Based off the Remington action and loosely off the M24 stock for general reference, here is my rifle. It does not have a designation as of yet.
Caliber: .308
Action: Remington Bolt
Stock: Synthetic
Effective Range: 0-800 yards.
Scope: 6-24x50mm Leupold
Magazine: Internal, 4 rounds
This rifle, eventually, will be receiving a special paint job which will remain a secret at this time. Critique is welcome as long as its kept constructive. This is my first creation and I have a ways to go yet. I never was much good at free handing stocks. Enjoy!

Actually, it was indeed MS paint. While on Deviant Art, I found a few tutorials that discuss making the most out of the program. Plus, shading and highlights never hurt either. But yeah, I can't really afford any fancy programs and really, I'm not that good. So MS Paint is all I have.
What I do is hard? I guess the actual depth i go with them would be further than most would but I look at what you've done with your two rifles and I think 'wow looks hard to make.' I think the only reason the two of use see the creations of the other as 'hard' is its not done in our style.
When I use MS paint I zoom fully ( 8x i belive) and work from the barrel back to the stock. I don't know if you work from the stock to the end of the barrel I just find the barrel to be the part easiest to work with.
No problem, you've commented on a great deal of my gun designs felt i should return the favor.

That is perhaps true. We will always find that which others can do to be difficult upon first glance. And like you, I began with the barrel and the action. The reasoning, for me at least, is because the barrel gives me an idea as to the scale of the firearm, which determines trigger, grip, and stock placement, length, and how far down the barrel it will reach. It's just easier once I have a bit of perspective like that, since, for the most part, the barrel remains constant.
I do most of my rendering at full zoom, using the line tool for the straight lines and pixel by pixel placement for the rest. In fact, I have a creation that I made a long while ago that uses this technique. I'll post if up on here as well for you to view if you so wish.
Thanks again for the kind comments.

Ah so you start from the barrel too. True the barrel never changes except in bore and length since there's so many possibilities for the two. But i have to have a reference so I don't get too 'out there' when drawing up my designs.
I used to refer to my guns as 'sprite guns' in the past because I zoomed in so far and stayed at 100% zoom and kept a bitmap image up while I drew so i could see how it unfolded while being worked on. It would be cool to see this 'technique' you have.
