Where have you been, Rilnotoo?
On a lone planet in one of the vast multitudes of alternate existences, a world with countries divided into factions.
One of the Arcane, former lords of the world.
One a kind of Steampunk, using the arcane in a harmony with the planets native technology.
And one with adapted futuristic technologies salvaged some two-hundred years prior from a chance alien craft smashing to the landscape.
From the wreckage revolution came, before those with Arcane means held sway over those without, but the technology, the advancements split the world. Those with no means of defense, the slaves, the traders, the common people were able to fine a way to survive.
In a part of the wreckage, barely held in stasis, is an experiment, meant for release, a machine with the brain of a man. meant to be a better, faster, smarter soldier for their defense, never given the chance to fulfil its duties.
But with a chance power surge in modern times, his capsule was awaken, and R.I.L#2 was released. Without its Masters to command him, the mechanization rose from the wreckage and looked out at the world its creators technology had torn into factions, and said 'they need help.. they need MY help' and set to work... with a large, sharpened plank of steel as a sword.
Obviously he became allied with the Technological faction of the world, even a wonder of technology like the now dubbed 'Rilnotoo' cant repair himself without the spare parts. Tho, nobody is quite sure of his ultimate goal, outside of 'save your species'
