Shadow's locked into a cycle of nightmare, repression and despondency. I know how he feels; I've been there myself.

Right now, the thing he wants above all else is for the pain to just...end.

Somehow, I think I know who the predator is, though, and it isn't someone who's going to put him out of his misery in that way.

I remember how when I first drew this, I was going through my own experience of heartbreak and feeling misunderstood. I'm sorry to hear that it happened to you as well (but then again, who HASN'T it happened to, some time or another?).

Looking back, I'm actually grateful for the experience as it challenged me to grow and mature -- and inspired me to create stories like this one. Even so, given a choice I would prefer not to have to go through such a thing again.

It's all too routine a part of my life, his experience. Part of it is my own disabilities, and part of it is that good deeds all too frequently do not go unpunished in my life.

Suffice to say, Shadow is a character I really, really empathize with. In alot of ways, he is me.
