Melia - Horror Story - Contest Prize
I was given a short excerpt and asked to turn it into a short story as part of a contest I held.
melia was the contest winner and after being so (insanely) patient with me as I tried my best to get my computer fixed, here is the final result. I had to re-write a few parts of it because the original files were partially corrupted. And since my computer has been having seizures lately, I was unable to e-mail the final copy to Melia before uploading it here. I sure hope everyone enjoys reading this.
This is what I was given to work with:
Jacob was concentrating so hard that he didn’t even hear the first patters of rain on the window of his study. He had to get this paper done by 7:00A.M. in the morning, it was 12:45 now. His black and white muzzle was as close to the keyboard as he could get it with out the muzzle getting in his way of seeing the keys. His old typing teacher would kill him if she could see what he was doing. He shook his head to clear those thoughts, and began typing again. He jumped, nearly tipping his chair over backwards, when the sky let loose with a loud crack of thunder, like some cosmic bull whip. Jacob looked over at the window as if to ask, ‘what did you do that for?’ he tried to get back to work, but soon realized that his concentration was broken. So he decided to look out the window and watch the storm until his mind could return to the paper. He got up, stretched and walked over, placing his hands on the sill. A strike of lightening, followed closely be another crack of thunder made him jump, and again think of the cosmic bull whip. God’s cows must not be behaving. He thought, laughing to himself, but when the lightening flashed several times in rapid succession he stopped. Is that blood? He looked out the window to try to see if there was an injured animal or something out there. The lightening flashed again, the multiple strikes illuminating the window, and Jacob’s face. His jade green eyes went wide when he realized where the blood was. It was on the inside of the window.
