I've heard it said that drawing Renamon is like a furry rite of passage. And since this year saw me really coming to terms with my being a furry (if only by a technicality), I thought it fitting to finish off the year by drawing her for the first time.

So, I'm not going to pretend I've secretly been a fan of Digimon all this time. I know next to nothing about Digimon. I don't know where they come from, what they really are, what they do, anything about the world they live in, or the human characters... but I'm told the anime is pretty good, so maybe I'll give it a look. What I do know, however, is that the evolution lines are absolutely bonkers. (Check the DeviantArt post for some diagrams I made illustrating my point.)

Anyway, about the picture itself. I wanted to try cel shading, because I've not had much success with it until now. I'm getting a better understanding of form now, so it wasn't as hard as it has been in the past. I gave her striped arm warmers just because. It was looking kind of flat even with the shading, though, so I put some lighting on it. I think it really made a difference (see the DeviantArt post for how it looked without the lighting).
