Well if you're one of the smartest members of your species, surrounded by people so far below you they're literally sub-human (sub-yinglet?), well you're obviously gonna find a very similar species where even the morons are at least twice as smart as your brighter members kind of appealing.
I mean, it's hard to be around people who are that dumb, it's frightening even. When someone is that dumb, no matter how smart you are, you can't predict what they're going to do anymore.
It's like the old saying "professional soldiers are predictable, but the world is filled with dangerous amateurs". So a human partner might be preferable because at least you know they won't stab you because you said a word they didn't understand. Plus there's common interests, the mutual ability to read the same books, plus she's associated with them for a long time.
...That or the whole reason she learned all that stuff in the first place is because she's a perv who's hot for non-yinglet humanoids...

Poor Vizlet, it's never fun when a pleasant dream turns into a nightmare (Nightmare to her. Sweet dream to some others). The little feet-hand gripping is cute. Makes her seem all the more innocent in this imagined(nightmare) version of herself. To go from her rather exalted status to just a simple minded (broodmother?) and to have her bountiful knowledge drained from her head then used to inflate another part of her anatomy (and bountiful bosoms they are :)). I love these little insightful comics, really makes the characters pop out in a more three-dimensional sense as we get to know these characters all the more.
Will we see some similar behind scenes comics for other Yinglets in the future? Which brings me to an important question; Did Lippie ever get her hug? Last we saw she was still shaken from Vizlet's little outburst when dealing with Kass. I do hope that young Lippie is doing okay.

HA!! Although I would prefer Viz with both the brains and the cleavage on display. I imagine she could even manipulate a human if she found a smart one and put the goods on display while picking his brain. It seems the brainy humans in this world are all to eager to bloviate anyway. Hey...why hasn't she hit up the perv Kass reports to to glean HIS book-learning human-thinkings? They HAVE interacted, yes? She could trade anatomy studies for knowledge.
because I was kind of tired and saw this on my phone at work, I thought this was Vizlet and her half-human spawn from the earlier image whom she was very dissapointed in due to her lack of intellectual capacity because of the nightmare cup enhancement. However under closer inspection what it actually was is much more hillarious of course XD

I think this dream, or rather nightmare, only reaffirms my theory on the previous picture about the presence of her ego and thoughts of high self worth. She isn't miserable in this dream as we can see, HOWEVER, she isn't as smart or (probably to her more importantly) smarter than those around her. Kass's presence as someone smarter than her in this dream and of a human mind in origin, as well as the more accurate portrayal of her personality is something of a self insult I think. Here we have a human who she wants to be the peer of or superior to being in control of her fate and possibly enclave. Then we can see that Vizlet herself is happy, if not more accurately content in this dream as a slobbering moron; an over-dramatized (or perhaps completely accurate) average Yinglet. In this nightmare she's content to have Kass offering her off, to be something commanded, and is void of her usual drive to learn more. In this way, this dream shows her herself without respect, which is completely against all of her efforts and previous dreams. In her encounter with Kass in the comic we saw a cool, level headed, and matter-of-fact leader who QUICKLY wanted to establish herself as the dominant presence even despite early beliefs that Kass was a fraud. Even when the truth was revealed, Vizlet kept that air about her and carried herself with the "I am your superior and smarter than you" attitude she had given before. I could connect this to the dashing rogue of the second dream. Note how he never says he's taken by her beauty, how he's fallen for her looks, or her eyes, or her smile, or something superficial like that. She doesn't WANT someone to lust for her, in that dream he states he LOVES her. He has a love of who she is and the contents of her personality. It's a validation of her intellect and her drive to be more than what she is now. She wants to be adored, respected, and seen as a figure of wisdom and authority. I'd almost think given that dream she'd dislike being happy simply for happiness's sake if not actively try not to be happy but rather yearning for ways to continue making herself ever grander.
I feel that this dream in particular is actually a fear of hers and one she's had with the Trademaster before Kass. She's not incapable in this dream as we can observe in her claims she's good at her job, but everyone else is calm, collected, almost human-like while she is an excitable primitive taking glee in simple meaningless accomplishments. This could be a fear of how she is seen simply because of her Yinglet heritage. In this dream, the nightmare, her Enclave is under the rule of someone else; her accomplishments are limited to something much lesser and her legacy in the form of those she rules over is instead the bragging rights of someone else. Whereas in the good dream she was still responsible for them and they were happy. So we can see that she fears not having anything of substance to show for her efforts, not being a respectable figure to others, and perhaps even allowing herself to delight in things at risk of others not taking her seriously. I see her now as someone who kind of NEEDS to be built up, who has a deep desire for others to acknowledge her as an equal at the very least, and who is cold because she's fearful that if she's anything other than an intelligent, authoritative, and serious figure who presides over a flourishing people she'll be written off. I wonder if that isn't some of the reasoning behind why she dealt with the Trade Master when she believed Kass to be a fraud and an infiltrator, that if she continued to work aside him, and sort of use his authority to bolster her own, she could sort of use him as a stepping stone to further her own reputation and legacy. That him spying on her would be worth it if it meant that more people were considering her as something TO be spied on and perhaps even a threat.
All this said I love her character and your writings because this whole story has been a delight to read and very interesting. lol I know I'm probably getting way too into these but I enjoy speculating and combing over little details. I think Vizlet is one of my all time favorite characters in this followed by Kass and then our little bug friend. These in-depth analyses are always fun to read. Despite being more or less a gag/cheesecake pic, it is totally based on canon Vizlet-headspace; you're right on about why this particular situation would cause her to wake up screaming. If nothing else, I'm glad it's obvious enough what her hopes, self-expectations, and fears are, despite only offering passing glances at what drives this particular matriarch.
lol A CHEESECAKE PIC!!?! I've never heard that before!! lol that's bizarre but hilarious!! Like people who call erotic roleplays "lemons" (either because they're bitter that it's not happening irl or, much like biting into a lemon it causes them to make peculiar faces. I'm sure it's got to be one of those reasons) But I'm very glad that you enjoy my mad ramblings on your characters! lol and hey, when you provide such quality content, it's not that hard to get a bead on characters! ESPECIALLY when they're well written! Honestly, it's been nothing but a treat to get to know this series and the characters! You've successfully fostered a fascination in me over the lore of this world, its past, and the Yinglets! lol an interesting evolution as my original exposure to the Yinglets was the fellow in the Blue Barret and because of the way they spoke I thought that all the Yinglets were French.
