This ones been in my to do folder for awhile now, finally got off my tail and finished it
Always had a liking for the Mig-25, my favorite of the Mig family. Basically its what happens when you want to make a airplane go as fast as possible in a straight line. Cram the largest engines in it you possibly can. Capable of speeds up to Mach 3 and altitudes up to 70,000ft, it was a fearsome interceptor

1. the Su-47 isnt actually a stealth aircraft. it actually isn't even a fighter (though Sukohi OKB did toy with the idea of making it a fighter), its actually a technology demonstrator. designed to test the advantages of the forward swept wing layout (just like the X-29)
2. the direct replacement for the Mig-25 was the Mig-31 (which itself started life as an upgraded Mig-25). Even bigger more powerful radar, more weapons, more range, etc. Its not really meant to dogfight. Its an interceptor. Its goal in life is to locate and kill bombers and strike aircraft before they reach their targets from long range.
There have been plans for a stealth Mig-31 replacement....but only time will tell on that one...
Personally, I dont think stealth is the end all be all its made out to be. While being harder to detect is good, each time someone makes a technological advance, someone comes up with a counter for it. Radars, senosrs, etc are always improving. At the end of the day, when you're in visual range, stealth wont do you a bit of good....at that point you better hope you're better trained and have a more agile airplane then the other guy
