[Preview of Official Sergal Ref] Sergal Feet Since 2016
This is part of the Free Sergal Reference that we are preparing.
<Why have their feet changed?>
I have considered changing them for a long time; because their ability to run is the most important in canon. And coincidentally enough, Kiki-UMA (who is my co-author) was just thinking just the same thing. So we decided re-building their feet design for the reference and the comic series.
The good parts of the first sergal designs (from more than 10 years ago) have also been incorporated. I really like that this design can be realistic.
<What are their new feet for?>
For more ruggedness and to be consistent with their ability to run fast. Toes have been realigned and claws become longer and stouter. The longest and thickest toe is the third, the fourth and second give support to strengthen the middle toe. The first toe works for balance. Claws are firm and not retractable.
<Supplement of canon>
Northern Sergals in particular spend most of their time in the outskirts, frequently heading to collect resources out in the alien biome, for that reason they have tough pads and long claws on their feet.
On the other hand, urban Sergals who are living in Gold Ring and the like may trim their claws because they may not run so much in comparison with rural sergals.
Also, they are still able to catch things with their feet. However, not to the same level as Nevreans.
<Extra: Opinion from Kiki>
I have a lot of respect for the earliest Sergals in 2003. However, their feet were similar to Nevrean's, so I thought I need to physically differentiate them. These "spread out toes" don't make sense for running fast. Also for comics, I wanted their concept to be the same as the original: their feet have the ability for running and jumping around Tal's rugged lands.
I really agree with her opinion. Sergals can run the fastest and jump the furthest of all Eltus races. It is their most prominent feature. The change has have been done to be consistent with that. Vilous canon is always comprised of my ideas and Kiki's ideas to explain the two sides of Vilous, physical and psychological.

Interesting, may the membranes be added between fingers, like husky's paws? http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/.....webbedfoot.jpg
For the northern sergals.
For the northern sergals.
At first I wasn't all that liking the new design at first (I think most likely cause it was a hybrid of kangaroo and rabbit feet), but now that there's explanations and a more detailed pic of it.. I'm actually liking the design a bit more than I did before.
Considering my Sergal OC is constantly on the move when in battle or any place he explores, this does suit him rather than the rodent/avian-like feet. I liked them before they looked cute and cool at the same time. Looking at the new ones now with the details.. It shares the cuteness and awesomeness of the design in the past.

Not a fan at all. The leg is attached too far in the rear to sensibly spread the weight, this would put them severely off balance when pushed from the front. Additionally it would require the toes to bend very far upwards if the Sergal was leaning forwards. That means they are actually completely unsuitable for running.
