It's that time of year again! The time when I look through all my art for the year, pick the ones that are the most interesting/meaningful to me for each month, then wonder why it's all Lunari. Again. Every year I say I won't let her be the art hog, and every year, it happens inevitably.
JANUARY: Starry Constellations
An awesome friend of mine wrote a song, just for me! So I did my synesthesia thing and drew it! Moreover, it came out amazingly and is one of my favorite pieces of all year. So much so that I have this picture on my phone case.
FEBRUARY: Space Psion
What started as an experiment with symmetry and asymmetry became inadvertently awesome. She looks more, I dunno, extra-terrestrial here.
MARCH: Magic
The only commission to make the cut! (Sorry guys, I just don't form as much of a meaningful attachment to commissions; most of my experimenting and learning is done in personal pieces) This was the first time I drew a human and felt pleased with the outcome. Humans have been hard for me to draw for all my life, so this was a big thing!
APRIL: Tiny Princess of the Moon
April was a bit of a slow month, but this was one of the better pieces of the year, I think. Shows what I can do with shading and colored outlines, should I feel so inclined.
MAY:So I Ripped it Out
Weird personal art. Also, not Lunari for a change! This one gets on here because it was a fun little experiment with alternate shading techniques, and I rather like how it came out.
JUNE: Snowblind V2
Another slow month. More personal art, this time with crazy colors and shading.
JULY: Lunari's 2016 Ref Sheet
Every year I look at Lunari's ref sheet, cringe, and redraw it. Makes for an interesting timeline of my artwork and character design evolving. Another slow month. The AC died and I was overheating and flaring for a few months there, no energy to draw ;w;
AUGUST: Upgrades
I upgraded Cypher's design! She went from complicated to EVEN MORE COMPLICATED!Why do I do this to myself
SEPTEMBER: Scythedork
A few years back this guy was spontaneously created in the crazy manner that my brain makes characters. He kind of started as a reason to actually practice drawing humans (yes, I have been practicing since March), and then got a backstory and blargle, he's a thing now. This is the first drawing of him that I liked enough to color and post.
OCTOBER: Inktober day 3
This year was the first year I've ever done Inktober! Using actual ink with no undo button scares the poop outta me, so it was a scary-fun challenge! This one wound up being my favorite of the month, and not just because it's Lunari in a dress; I didn't know I could put that much detail into a picture using only black and white with no midtones.
NOVEMBER: Wall Flower No More
Ok, you remember Gabe/Scythedork from September? Yeah, well, I made him into a Mii on Tomodachi Life (I don't think Nintendo ever intended for writers to use that game as a character building aid of sorts lol) and he wound up dating Lunari-Mii. The more I thought about it, the better their personalities contrast/compliment each other, and well, now it's canon. LUNARI HAS A BOYFRIEND. Here they are dancing on the rooftops a la romantic cheesefluff.
DECEMBER: Chatmas Tree
This has got to be the highest amount of characters I have ever drawn on one page. A huge group gift for all my chat buddies! Here's to another awesome year of inappropriate jokes and bad memes!
