An old man is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
This is the first of two songs based on the fable known as The Two Wolves, titled as such and part of an album I would love to release come next year. Done for my Tech class, I used Cubase and my voice as well as a bass and contrabass ocarina to bring this to life, as well as some MM6 and VST instruments to give this piece an esoteric and somewhat abstract sound art feel to it. Intentionally it drifts in and out between a semblance of order and a general chaotic and multi-pitched feel, harmonics and noise interspersing depending on...well, what I feed. More on that later. ;P
Hope you like!
(Special thanks to
tonyasong for letting me know that this is NOT a Cherokee fable, as I mistakenly believed. Please make sure and check out her amazing musical work and read this link for more information: http://apihtawikosisan.com/2012/02/.....indian-story/)
Hope you like! Dedicated to
SpiritWolfe as one of two themes for my mate. <3
