Hey, this bandwagon seems fun. Let's hop right on, shall we? :3
*Note* I put art in the months that I actually drew the art and finished it, NOT uploaded. I don't always upload art the same month I make it, I tend to space out my uploads out a bit more if I know I don't have too much to upload after that.
--
January: I actually don't have any "uploads" on FA for January. During the start of last year, I was REALLY into WoW and so drawing kinda fell by the wayside. I did, however, find myself introduced to the Dutch Angel Dragon fanpage on Facebook, so I got my art fix by doing commissions of some of the characters there.
February: Still attached to WoW, but this time I remembered FA and uploaded what I drew there. Again, I wasn't really doing public jounal-commission-openings, but still had fun doing commissions for the DAD group. When my WoW raid group fell apart, I stopped playing WoW and tried to focus on getting more art made.
March: It'd been quite a while since I'd opened commissions on FA, so business was a little slow in these early months. However, the business I did get was usually for a few large pieces, which kept me busy, but kept my output small. TFF also happened this month, so most of my art done was in preparation for, or at, the con.
April: Reference. Sheets. EVERYWHERE. xD I had a big commission opening this month which went well, and ended up doing TONS of reference sheets, which would only increase from then on. They were great practice and I enjoyed getting back in the full swing of creating and uploading art to FA.
May: I tried something new this month, doing discounted commissions that would include my own characters. I enjoyed what I made, even though it wasn't quite that much... Then, my parents' dog had an emergency at the vet and I opened for more emergency commissions. Then FA went down. What a busy, crazy month.
June: Commissions proceeded as well as they could during this and the next month, with, again, the vast majority of them being reference sheets. I also returned to the DAD Facebook group, mostly because I honestly just enjoy drawing that species- it's a lot of fun to play around with those cute little things.
July: I finally got up a Terms of Service, and resumed with commissions with a bit more gusto this time around. (Surprise: Most of 'em were ref sheets.) The pieces I made this month were also more on the complicated, time-consuming side, so there weren't as many uploads.
August: I get around to finishing one commission batch, open for another, and, well, just resume with commissions at a somewhat steady pace. IRL, I have some changes happen at my job so this period of time was mostly about finding the right balance for me in terms of IRL obligations vs FA commissions.
September: Around this time, I felt more relaxed with the pace I'd settled into in regards to putting out art and taking commissions. Unfortunately, something very major happened IRL that I'd like to keep to myself, but because of this I ended up with a lot of financial strain near the end of the month. I planned a hiatus.
October: Went for a "final commission opening" before an indefinite hiatus, which still hasn't quite happened. xD I love FA and art too much to really leave it, so I've been trying to still upload art and take commissions here and there when I can, but I still wasn't able to fully open for a large batch, just yet.
November: The last commission batch lasts until the middle of this month; during this time I'm not doing much personal art, but instead focusing on commissions and letting my art and style develop as I go. I'm more laid-back this month in regards to art, taking business as it gets to me rather than going out to chase it.
December: I didn't have any major commissions this month- instead, it was more of a 'catch-up' time for me in regards to IRL and other art to be completed for other reasons or purposes. I'm still pretty quiet on FA, and as much as I'd like to change that, there are still IRL things keeping me from being as active as I'd like to be.

Overall, looking back on this year, I'm pleased with the work I've got done, even if it wasn't as much work as I wish it could've been. IRL, the year has been a crazy, hectic roller coaster ride that ended up sucking away so much of my free time, at times I almost forgot about FA in general. I feel as if art and the furry fandom has become more of a side-hobby for me, which I WISH I could be a part of more and dedicate more time towards art and improving...
Ultimately, I've had to come to accept that I won't be able to upload art, or take commissions, at the pace that many other artists do. Every day I open up a page to FA and look through submissions, comments, journals, etc- and I see so many amazing artists putting out tons of work, improving like crazy, making art for all sorts of wonderful people and spreading their talent and works of art across the 'net. And while I'm always observing it, unfortunately I can't always be a part of it, which stings a little.
I've said this before, but it's worth saying again- art isn't my full-time job, and I'm lucky enough to HAVE a full-time job, a career- to pay for the roof over my head, the food in my fridge and the video games on my desk. (The three essentials to life, amirite? ;D) So while art, and the furry fandom, is definitely a part of my life, it's not something that I'm wholly and fully dedicated to 24/7, or even half that time. It's something that I enjoy as a hobby when I can enjoy it- which may not be as often as others, but I still treasure and enjoy every moment spent drawing, or interacting with, you fuzz-butts.
I haven't spent too much time thinking over 2017 and the kind of year it could be, as, at this point, I just want 2016 to be over, lol. But hopefully, come 2017, I'll be able to spend just a bit more time with art. Maybe I'll be able to open back up for commissions soon, I sure hope so... But ultimately, I can say with pride that I have survived an insane and absolutely crazy year that came very close to breaking me once or twice. I've survived, and I've become stronger as a result. I've improved my art, how I handle my commissions, and have grown as an artist in general.
While many artists rely on FA commissions as their only or main source of income, I do not. I don't spent as much time working on commissions, uploading art, etc, as other artists do. But if you ever want to chat, have a question about art/commissions, I don't bite! Please feel free to contact me whenever, via comment/note, etc. Like I said, I check FA almost every day, even if I'm not uploading art or opening for commissions. My activity on FA is limited to the time that I can actually put into it, which varies day by day and sometimes can increase or decrease suddenly due to IRL stuff.
Anyways.
Here's to a great new year of art, yeah? :3
