Any of the natives could have told these two that campers in the woods of these mountains almost never return. Maybe they were desperate, or naively thought that they could handle the inhabitants of the forest. They certainly weren’t expecting Mort to pay them an early morning visit.

I know what you're thinking rediculous reply but hey man if I'm going to do two or three things are gunna happen before that first off life flashing before eyes second deciding a religion last second for ones that allow that like Christianity third beg for my life or think about food cause I'm hungry at that time also I eat a lot .... it's a bad habit to have
Mort and my char Ailyx the Thunderbird (also well known for making visitors to his woods disappear) should get together and go hunting. ^.^
Though, at least at the time of his short stories, he swore off eating "little people" unless he's really pressed into it, mostly because he made friends with one. He also has the advantage of being able to turn invisible for extended periods (but not continuously; it drains his stamina).
