Meeting on the top of her building had sort of been a tradition of theirs ever since she had first met the handsome brown werewolf. Of all the people Logan had encountered since the night of her transformation, Alex had been the most pleasant. Their first meeting she had found him wounded and bleeding on a rooftop not far from there. When she had tended to him and his own healing ability had restored him, she had done something impulsive and gone with her instincts that night. The next meeting was a little bit more like a traditional date, where he had led her home to her rooftop and treated her to a picnic. While Logan had never been the sort of girl to go in for all those romantic gestures, he seemed to know how to reach her not just through her human side but her wolf side as well.
She had fallen hard for him before she'd even known his name. A part of her felt guilty given she was not exactly a free agent but there was no one she knew who could advise her on what one did when one became a werewolf. She knew it was wrong on some level, but it felt so right. She met him on the rooftop several times more, coming to look forward to it. At times he would play games with her, making her track his scent and her doing the same. How had she ever gotten by without a werewolf's senses?
She waited for him where a table and cloth had been set up. Kameron had informed them they'd be stepping out later, so Logan awaited her date in a stunning red dress that showed off her black fur and luscious curves. It felt so strange to wear a dress and make her hair up all pretty for a male. She'd never done that before. Alex, however, made her want to. Alex was not an ordinary man. Nor a werewolf. He was part of the three percent of the werewolf population who was transgender. What that meant was he was female as a human, but male as a werewolf. A fact Logan could confirm personally. She wasn't sure how it worked, but the third helix in their DNA usually matched their natural gender. With a small percentage of weres, it didn't.
This suited Alex fine, as she had always felt male in her heart. Logan felt a breeze behind her carrying her beloved's scent. She turned to see him dressed in a fine suit with a flute of champagne in his paw.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," he said.
"Some things are worth waiting for," she replied, holding up another flute. "I'm impressed you were able to get over here so silently in that suit."
"It wasn't easy," he admitted. "However, one can't go to the theatre in jeans."
Logan nodded in agreement. "No, one can't. My heels are downstairs. They won't fit me like this."
"That's okay, you look lovely in that dress." The comment made Logan feel weak, and she leaned against the wall as he placed an arm against the wall. "Maybe later I can help you out of it."
Logan blushed. "Careful, you'd better keep your paws to yourself until after the show," she said, really wanting him to take her right now against the brick wall. She almost wished he would.
Alex instead kissed her. "I always remember I'm male in this form when I'm around you."
"Pants getting tight?" she asked.
"A little," he said.
"Well, you look so handsome like that." Logan touched his cheek.
"I feel handsome in this form. When I'm human, I don't feel like who I'm supposed to be. When I become a werewolf... When I become male, I feel like who I was meant to be. I feel like me, this way." He paused. "I know I can't go out in public like this, but I wish I could."
"Maybe one day," she said.
"Maybe."
"So, I guess we should join the others before they start wondering about what happened to us, or worse, start forming their own ideas," he said. "Shall we?" he said, extending his arm.
With a girlish giggle she never would have admitted to making, she wrapped her arms around his and headed towards the stairwell.

Very interesting. I can't help but feel this is going to cause trouble somewhere down the line, given that Logan is already in a relationship, and it seems that the fact that it's going to be a toss-up between whether there's another person in her life, or whether she's a werewolf, that sets off the coming explosion. But they do make quite a lovely couple, and I can't really blame her for being attracted to Alex, either. Especially since it gives her someone who understands what has happened to her, and who she can confide in without having to worry about being exposed or attacked just for being a werewolf.
I love that the fact that Alex is trans isn't an issue for her, too. Of course, I never would have thought that any of your protagonists would have a problem with it, but it does make for quite a nice touch.
The art is simply gorgeous, too, and the both look fantastic! Logan, in particular, is incredibly sexy in that red dress. It goes with her black fur so nicely, and it looks so elegant on her! The little lanterns above them are a nice touch, too, and I really like the view of the bay beyond their rooftop rendezvous.

As a matter of fact the entire plot arc was designed specifically for maximum fireworks, though I could not have wished for better with how it comes together since it hits every dramatic moment I wanted just at the right time for the story. Odds are it will be a little bit of both, as now she's got two things she's keeping to herself, at least early on. What you mention is probably one of the reasons she lets herself get involved with Alex in the first place, since they're more or less in the same boat.
Alex was specifically designed for a few things. One, I wanted a trans character period. Two, I wanted to use the story as a way to explore a trans character without their entire reason for being consisting of the fact that they are trans. Yes, he's transgender, but I wanted that to be a part of him, not the all of him. Third, I thought it would be interesting to play with the dual identity thing on a deeper level. Fourth, I thought we needed a trans protagonist we could really emphasize with (for those of us who are trans or feel that way), and who is a strong character in general, to help those that don't understand what it means to be trans in a way that isn't beating them over the head, more like, this is what we are and how we feel.
As usual, Fox Die comes up with great clothes. He's got a fabulous eye for that. The red dress is probably the first one Logan's worn since she was a teen. Something about Alex makes her like to be a little feminine. :)

I really like the idea of having a trans character who can be used to explore that particular state of being, I guess you'd call it, without it being heavy handed. A lot of what you've described is more or less what I have always kind of hoped to do with Seán as well. Regardless of whether or not he features much, or at all, in our shared work, I'm hoping to work things out so that he will be a visibly trans person, but one who is first and foremost a person and not all about one specific issue. So needless to say, I'm very excited to see where you go with Alex and learning more about him, and Logan, as we go along.
Great scene with a picture of Alex and Logan. I did some brainstorming about a tarot card to fit this scene and story (I didn't shuffle the deck, I was researching the cards and picked what looked good). One card simply wouldn't do; so three it was! The cards pertains to Logan's romance triangle. Her past card would most likely be the knight of pentacles representing her first love, Patrick. Patrick (I've read part of the first chapter on the account) seems to be the stable, responsible, practical guy who works hard as a detective. Knights are associated as the defenders and protectors of society because he is a detective who solves crimes and protects others, this card seems to fit him best. The second card is the present card -- the two of cups. Some people might think the lovers card would work best; however, the lovers card does not exactly mean romance, it means making a crucial decision that can affect the lives of the individual or the people around them. Logan doesn't seem to be in that position. She's simply enjoying herself at the moment. The two of cups is the actual romance card. This means her love for Alex is very strong and is emotionally attached to him. The final card would have to be two of wands. This means that in the future, Logan has two choices to make, either go with Patrick or Alex. She must choose a path. This card can also signify travel but that could be simply her moving in with either guy. One thing for certain, she can't have two husbands! I don't think werewolf society allows polygamy (being married to more than one spouse). Anyway, awesome story!
Well, she definitely does choose, but as far as multiple partners, so far it's never come up, but I doub they'd forbid it. Mostly they're concerned with exposure, doing anything that would let the general public know they exist. That gets you a lot of attention you don't want from the werewolf government.
