A couple weeks ago, my Pathfinder group had one of our best sessions yet, and I've forgotten to share it, so here it goes lol.
Our snow leopard ninja, Fan-He (
) was killed the session before, and due to the current low magic setting, a resurrection was hard to come by. The party was told that if they wish to bring their companion back, they might get aid from The Temple of Five, where they ventured (after stuffing Fan-He's corpse into their Bag of Holding).
They arrive at the temple, and clear the puzzles, riddles, and challenges in the temple leading up to the final room. Being based on the traditional five Chinese elements (earth, fire, metal, water, and wood), each of the rooms had something to do with those elements.
The final chamber was this pentagon shaped room where a kirin was waiting for the party. The kirin was willing to grant one wish to the party on a single condition: it had forgotten the name it held in its past life, and wanted to know it. The kirin began attacking to raise the stakes. The party eventually figured out (without hints from me) to stick their heads into the water, fire, wood, metal, and earth traps in the corners to find letters, which unscrambled to form the kirin's name: Lady Geislyn. The kirin turned out to be the reincarnation of
's character's mother.
The wish was granted, Fan-He restored, tears were shed, and a great time was had.
I'm looking forward to the adventures we will have in the new year. I am very thankful to my players for putting up with my DMing. Thanks
and
for continuing to surprise and impress me with your roleplaying abilities. Let's grow more together in 2017
