In one fan-fic, Mighty discloses his secret i.d. to Pearl - 10 years after he quit and hung up his cape. The stress and strain of trying to be everywhere had gotten to him, and he was unable to save an innocent's life because he was dealing with OilCan Harry. He quit after that.
