Hey everybody! Here’s something else for the new year… something a bit less happy…
First off though credit where credit is due. This is a YCH I purchased from
kaijuparty who made it in collaboration with

Now… as for what’s going on here (other than the obvious, Petie bawling like a big baby) rather than explain it I think I’ll share some info about everybody’s favorite big baby teddiursa cub~ Please enjoy… and yes, I do use that term loosely. This isn’t happy stuff~
Petie Julafton (Originally Liratten followed by being Herrbar) is not a mentally well baby boy… which is particularly bad since he’s 14 years old. The tiny, juvenile looking teddiursa has stunted maturity for his age (though not so bad it matches his looks), major self-worth issues, a lack of confidence, and major issues relating to his absentee father and his new step-father… but while Petie is getting regular counseling sessions to help deal with all of these issues his biggest issue goes untreated. Mostly due to Petie himself not realizing it’s anything but an annoying little quirk he has to put up with and Momma, one of the few people who has enough of the pieces to possibly realize the issue, tends to avoid thinking about it herself.
You see Petie has a bad habit of mentally regressing back to an early stage of development (usually age 3 or younger) under the right stimulus. The most common ones involve his razor keen sense of smell and over exposure to strong scents Petie associates with babyhood like talcum powder, a large amount right on his nose reduced Petie to the mental equivalency of a toddler. Other stimulus, like prolonged exposure to the old shows he watched back then or the flavor of baby food, can bring out more juvenile behavior in the bear cub to a much lesser degree. Usually when Petie mentally regresses this way it wears off rather quickly (a couple minutes to an hour or so) with vague memory of what happened while he was mentally regressed. He can also snap out of it faster if given a shock to his senses (like a strong smell or taste) though this doesn’t always work.
Petie also tends to regress back to more juvenile traits (like lisping) when stressed or humiliated… which is the actual problem. While this comes across as a cute little trait Petie does when under pressure what most people (Petie’s step-sister particularly) don’t realize is that the teddiursa does have a breaking point and when he’s so stressed or humiliated he reaches that WILL break and will slip back to mental infancy. Usually as a very upset baby resulting on plopping on his bottom or back and bawling making what is probably a bad scene even worse. Worse these breakdowns can take several hours to wear off meaning that even if Petie is calmed down (a feat usually requiring Momma) he’d still mentally be a preverbal baby with none of his normal personality traits or knowledge until he starts coming back. When he does snap back to normal Petie usually has no memory of his time regressed… or what happened that stressed/humiliated/upset him so badly to make him regress.
This is the reason Petie remembers VERY LITTLE of his time in Viridian Grade School, particularly the incidents that led up to Momma enrolling him in the PCA rather than letting him continue through the same school system to highschool.
Now you might be asking “After all he’s gone through what could have been bad enough to break him like this?” well that’s the fun part… I’m not telling~ =P I’m not telling what broke him back then (MIGHT come up in future stories, we’ll see~) and I’m not telling what could break him like this in the future…
I’m also not telling if it’s possible to PERMANENTLY break him either~ Have fun wondering about that (for good or for ill)~

Awww... he definitely needs all the cuddles right about now. Poor lil' guy.
Hmm that's an interesting bit of info there that he doesn't remember anything from his regression spells. That kind of sucks but at the same time kind of guess there are some situations that might be best forgotten.
