[Gift] I had no idea Kinokuniya stocked these.
>> From a magazine review:
Yo, ink-cats, check this sweet little thing from AnthroAsia Press which you'll either love to death, or just want to put to death. It's marked as being
ryuumajin's work, so you know it'll be a generous helping of nice, old-school manga with buff dudes. (Okay, okay, I picked it up because of the dude on the cover.)
Shin Kemono Tensei - FURRSONA: Kowareta Yume (True Beast Reincarnation - FURRSONA: Broken Nightmare?) is a collection of doujin for some novel based on a videogame or something. I have no idea what the source material is about, and I don't think I want to (c'mon, videogame fanfic? blergh) but the stories here don't seem to make you need to read it, which is awesome since I won't miss anything.
Ryuumajin does the art, though it says that the novel's author wrote most of the stories and did one or two "art-shift" pages. One of the stories is coloured by another guy I haven't heard of, Pyoria-or-something, but will most-def look for.
Here's a list of the stories in this volume and the synopses the publishers gave:
1. Osaka. Ezra has a bittersweet affair with a man he meets while completing his doctorate in Osaka University. (OMG Ryuumajin does BL. 8D)
2. Red, White and Blue. Set during Brian Hawkfeather's early days as a cop in America, he and his partner investigate the brutal beating of a pregnant teenager. (The art's awesome, but I skipped most of this one. Waaaay too violent and gritty.)
3. I Heard You Like Mudkips. In a chatroom, Yaali notices an older user hitting on a school-age chatter. This begins a game of Identity cat-and-mouse with an apparent paedophile. (Death Note + 4chan + Bobobobo-Bobobo = THIS.)
4. Midsummer Daydream. Soulie exorcises a haunted apartment... with glowsticks? (This one was fun. It's like a well-executed Magical Girl + Asian Ghost story set in the real world.)
5. Due Date. Andy Lim has always played the straight and narrow when it came to his schoolwork. However, a series of accidents will force him into an epic struggle to... finish his university assignment. By hook or by crook. (It's just about a cat trying to meet a deadline. How did it end up so FRICKIN' AWESOME? O_O)
6. The Answer. One fateful night, seven people battled against an embodiment of utter destruction. Only five of them survived the ordeal. Dobb Tan will not accept the reasons given to him, and begins a journey towards understanding a cruel game played with lives, and allowing his personal ghosts to rest. It begins in a room lined with blue velvet... (I think I've played a game like this before. Maybe. I dunno. :/ Otherwise, totally didn't get this one at all, it's apparently connects to another novel or something.)
There are a few omake pics by more artists I don't know about, and a handful of 4-komas that's probably hilarious to those who read the novel or something.
Edit: Some of you guys say there's a version of this that has ero in it. DO WANT.
>> Thanks for the present,
ryuumajin! *gigahug*
