A dragon's hoard is a driving factor in their lives. No scientist knows how or why dragons are driven to collect so many items and guard them with such threats and power. For modern dragons, this is more of an issue than it once was, since the laws of ownership have since become a lot more -muddied- than they are used to (After all, why does it matter who -previously- had possession of it, when it was so clearly dragon's now?)

It is somewhat easy to forget as well that dragons oft consider all objects that they would like to hoard theirs to take and use regardless of whom they belong to. Take this example for instance, where I invited  guardian-hawk over to my house during a cold winter month and I returned to find that my bed had been completely ransacked, and all of my blankets had now become his blankets!
