
Last preview page. If the characters seem a bit calm being held captive by two psychopaths, it's probably because they don't quite get the gravity of their situation, at least not yet. The Justice Computer in particular is oblivious, but then again, it was never programmed to deal with such a scenario. I had a lot of fun writing it's dialogue.

Some tv cops play "calm" to mess with the psycho's mind when held captive.
A good example was Dennis Franz as Norm Buntz in "Hill Street Blues" who played calm for most of the episode until he got a chance to throw the bad guy out an upper floor window. Buntz later threw up in the police station toilet after his ordeal, popped a stick of gum in his mouth, and coolly walked out.
Quiet defiance in the face of danger...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
