Has anyone else ever noticed how few artists do "clean" art of pregnancy? So often it is depicted as some kind of horrible kinky sexual eploit. :P
I wanted to do something pregnant AND tasteful. Hopefully Darkhorse won't mind, I decided to depict his lovely mare, heavily pregnant, in a lovely sun-dress. :)
Of course, I got the ring on the wrong finger, but whatever. e.e
No anatomy crit please, I know there are errors but the overall picture makes me pleased, so leave it alone. ;)

Tastefully done and we're all better for it! They only nude, pregnancy art i like is the one with them posed for the portrait or with the father's arms wrapped around her, encircliing the tummy, with her arms and hands on top of his. Nothing sexual about it except the kis he gives her on the neck or shoulder, with her looking down at the tummy. THAT to me is a tasteful pregger portrait that's nude.
beyond that....they can keep it....we need more tasteful stuff.

Thanks! :) And agreed...yet I think a lot of artists are afraid to do nice, tasteful pictures because it doesn't have the same effect as OMG PRONZ on the furry community. :P Which is rather sad and pathetic. More people should draw nice stuff once in a while. :)
pregnancy is such a beautiful thing, I really agree more people should draw non-sexual pregnancy art. I myself was all round and pregnant until a little over 5 months ago :3 Now I just have a messy little one to deal with XD Anyone would be honored to be drawn as such a beautiful mother-to-be !
As someone who's into that "horrible kinky sexual exploit," I can tell you that I prefer tasteful depictions like this. Serene face, rubbing her belly affectionately, feeling the movements inside...I'll take that "XXX HARDCORE PREGO PRON!!!!1" any day of the week. I certainly don't mind tasteful nudes or seeing her get romantic with the father, though...
aww she's lovely. :) and i agree with the clean pregnancy bit. i have gotten a few weirdos trying to fawn over me and get me to draw my character doing things pregnant because i am :/ its really annoying and i hate getting mean but i've had to. I'm not a big fan of pink but the color and dress suits this mare well :) she looks lovely
I know what you mean. Whenever I ask people to draw Shadow Blade, I ask them to keep in mind that she is a beautiful Mare pregnant with twins. Not sexy, not "hawt", just beautiful! On the rare occasion that she is being drawn unrealistically pregnant, I always ask the artist that they tell everyone to be respectful of Shadow Blade. I don't like seeing pregnancy distorted to a point where it's jurt disrespectful to anyone who's pregnant and not pleasing to the eye at all. I have tremendous respect for pregnant women (and any animal that's pregnant). I always ask permission to feel their belly and if the answer is "No" then I leave them alone. They have it hard and they should be respected for the work it takes to bring their children into the World! Heck they should be paid more simply for being pregnant (especially if they're carrying multiples)! I'm sure it's hard work! They should not be exploited! They never asked to be.
That's okay. Once I have all outstanding commissions done, and once I have my license and a job, I'm gonna just do art for fun and I would like to do it as a gift. :D Might be a while first though, I have to wait until October to take my licensure exam. :P
But yeah, hit me up for some art once I have the ability to do it for fun. :)
