Hype Girl: Aren't you excited that we might become new characters??

Oh, hey, look at them. Have you noticed a few new kids in the past Planetarium Arc? Well, here you have two of them. There is a good chance you'll see them around, just not officially introduced to the main cast. That is because I don't really have names for them.
That's a lie, actually. My first idea was to call them "Agatha" (Somber Girl) and "Christie" (Hype Girl). Get it? "Agatha and Christie". Then I thought it was a stupid pun.
I love the name "Agatha", though, so Somber Girl is most likely to be called that. As for Hype Girl... dunno.

Not if you 'hang a lampshade on it' and let the readers know that the characters find it unusual as well:
Agatha: "Hi there, I'm Agatha, and this is my BFF Christie. We solve mysteries in our spare time."
Wilfredia: "Uhh, did you know when you say it like that, your names-"
Christie: "Sound like the mystery writer, thank you for being the twenty-third person to point that out to us. And before you ask: No, we do not own a talking Great Dane, nor are we friends with anyone named Richard Bachman."
Wilfredia: "Ohhh-kay, but what does a hockey player have to do with anything?"
(There are two well-known 'Richard Bachman's. One is the pen name of Steven King, the other is a goalie for the Vancouver Canucks.)

I have a meeting scene in mind, yes. Nothing like what you suggested, mainly because I can't possibly imagine Agatha saying "Hi there" to anyone. She won't even mention Christie is her BFF. She's a bit... old-fashioned. More of the "Hello" and "Greetings", less of the "Hiya" and "S'up". Here's the exchange that I have in mind and that summarizes both characters in a nutshell:
WILFREDA: How can you two be friends?
AGATHA: (dead serious) She amuses me.
CHRISTIE: (all chirpy) She tolerates me.
WILFREDA: How can you two be friends?
AGATHA: (dead serious) She amuses me.
CHRISTIE: (all chirpy) She tolerates me.
